About The Programme
The MPhil programme at the University for Development Studies aims at contributing to Ghana’s efforts to meet the objectives of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); particularly SDGs 1 (End poverty), SDG 2 (End hunger), 3 (Good health and well-being), 13 (Climate action) and 15 (Life on land), as well as the African Union’s aspirations as outlined in the Maputo and Malabo declarations.
The specific objectives of the programme are to:
- develop students' applied and advanced research capacity to contribute to new and emerging knowledge and technologies in sustainable agricultural and food systems.
- build students' capacity to develop, design and implement sustainable agricultural and food “communities of practice”.
- enhance the learning and research abilities of young women and men at the MPhil level in knowledge development and integrated analyses of issues in sustainable agriculture and food systems, and in the planning and conduct of original applied research, with particular emphasis on agriculture-climate-environment-natural resources management as well as agriculture-nutrition linkages.
