30 Female Students Receive Entrepreneurship Training

Thirty (30) female students have benefitted from an entrepreneurship training organised by the Women’s Commissioner (WOCOM) of the Tamale campus with assistance from YCI through NORSAAC. The training was aimed at equipping the students with the necessary skills for them to become entrepreneurs. The overall objective of the program, which consists of three layers of training, is to give young women more self-confidence, enhance their entrepreneurial abilities, and get them ready to launch successful income-generating ventures that will boost the economy for both the present and the future.

Female entrepreneurs are significant to the economy of Ghana, and they represent a tremendous amount of untapped potential that might be advantageous to the nation as a whole, according to the Women's Commissioner, Miss. Niamatu Alhassan.

According to her, the barriers preventing young people from entering the entrepreneurial environment include a lack of entrepreneurial education and training, a lack of awareness of essential company development services, a lack of access to inexpensive financing, and a lack of start-up funding.

She explained that through the training, the Women’s Commission of the Tamale Campus aims to develop a platform for assisting young people, particularly females, in developing, producing, and distributing their own goods and services.

The facilitators, Ms. Harriet Anafo and Mr. Mohammed Habib Salim, who are both staff of NORSAAC, walked the attendees through some of the funding options they may consider.
