On Friday, September 1, 2023, the Registrar, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar supervised a brief cer-emony during which Dr. Kabiru K. Azeez handed over to Dr. Abubakari Bawa Abdulai as the new Director of the University Health Services Directorate.
The Registrar, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar congratulated the outgoing director for the yeoman’s job he had done during his 6 years stay in office. He, Dr. Kabiru K. Azeez, thanked and appreciate the Mangement of the University for the support he received during the six years he served as the Director of the Univerty’s Health Services Directorate. He recounted some of the success stories of the Directorate within the six years he was in charge.
Dr. Azeez called on Management to offer even more support to the new Director to help him to achieve even more.
The newly appointed Director of health of the university, Dr. Abubakar Bawa Abdulai after thanking the University Management for the confidence reposed in him, assured Management that he will work hard to transform the clinics into hospitals and ultimately into teaching hospitals. He called for the support of the outgone Director, Dr. Kabiru K. Azeez, the staff, and the entire university community to help realize his transformative dream of making the university's healthcare delivery a first class one in the region and across the county.
The registrar of the university, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar commended the outgone Director for his dedication and service to the University and wished him well in his future endeavours. The registrar congratulated the newly appointed Director and admonished him to work hard to make the university's healthcare delivery system a much more formidable one.

WHO IS DR. ABUBAKARI BAWA ABDULAI?
He is a Former Senior Lecturer at the UDS-School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology.
As the foundation head of the Department of Radiology in 2917, Dr. A.B. Abdulai successfully helped to draft the curriculum for the radiology sub-specialty, and design standard student logbook for the radiology rotations,
Dr. Abdulai was a member of the SOM curriculum committee. He also supervised effective teaching and learning with excellent examination outcomes over the seven-year period of the headship.
Furthermore, he was the Head of the Radiology Sub-BMC of the Tamale Teaching Hospital from 2015 to 2023. Under his leadership, the department has seen a tremendous growth up to date. He has served in many committees such as the strategic planning committee, the quality assurance committee and budget committee.
