In a generous gesture towards educational development in the Northern region, Mr. Ibrahim Alabira, a retired lecturer and former parliamentarian for the Mion Constituency, has donated a collection of books on various disciplines to the University of Development Studies (UDS) Library. The donation ceremony held at Mr. Alabira's residence on Tuesday 26th March, saw the presence of the University Librarian, Mr. Edwin Thompson and other staff from the library.
The donated books encompass a wide array of subjects, including mathematics, psychology, medicine, biology, finance and philosophy. This demonstrates Mr. Alabira's commitment to fostering learning and intellectual growth in the Northern Region of Ghana.
Reflecting on his motivation, Mr. Alabira emphasized his belief in the transformative power of books in shaping the lives of students. "I cherish books and view books as having a huge impact on shaping the lives of students", Mr. Alabira said.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the university, Mr. Edwin Thompson thank the Philanthropist and assured him of safekeeping and accessibility of the books for students. "We're most thankful to you and promise to keep these books safe and put it into good use," affirmed Mr. Thompson.
He threw more light on the significance of the donation in enriching the academic resources available to students.
The donation ceremony was facilitated and coordinated by Mr. Abdul-Hayi Moomen, Director of Public Affairs, UDS who ensured the smooth execution of the event.
