The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Prof. Seidu Al-hassan has received handing-over notes from his predecessor at a brief ceremony at the Central Administration block in Tamale. The Registrar, Mr. Nurudeen Issah Abubakar welcomed the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, the new Vice-Chancellor, Deans and directors to the ceremony. He explained that the Vice-Chancellor.
OUTGOING VICE-CHANCELLOR
In a brief statement, the former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Ayum Teye thanked the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Deans, Directors, Heads of departments, units and sections and all staff of UDS for their support and cooperation during his 7-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor. He also called on all stakeholders to extend the same or even better cooperation to the new Vice-Chancellor.
HANDING-OVER NOTES
While presenting the handing over notes, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Ayum Teye urged the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Seidu Al-hassan to read the notes and refresh his memory about “what has happened, what is yet to happen, the way forward, as well as things to expedite action on”.
THE NEW STRATEGY
For his part, the new Vice-Chancellor, Prof Seidu Al-hassan intimated that he intended to apply what he referred to as the CPP strategy. He explained that the acronym CPP stand for “Challenges, Projects and People”. He said that he would work to get the support of all stakeholders of the University to address the challenges facing the university. He added that one of his priorities will be to ensure that the projects that were started by his predecessors do not stall, while ensuring that the university embarks on new projects to accelerate its development, both in terms of infrastructure and academic work. He explained that the last “P” in his “CPP” strategy, stands for “people”. He emphasised that without “the people” there is no way he can succeed as Vice-Chancellor. As a result, his main priority as head of the University, will be to see to the welfare of all of its stakeholders.
TEAM WORK
The new Vice-Chancellor assured the deans and directors of his commitment to work with them to further transform the University to higher heights. He added that having served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor in the past, he is acutely aware of the enormity of the task ahead, adding that the only way to accomplish the task is through team work.
