The UDS contingent for the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games departed for Kumasi on Friday November 4, 2022, for the tournament that kicks off on Sunday November 6, 2022.
Our correspondent, Abdul Ganiu Husain, who witnessed the departure of the contingent at the Yaa Naa Hall on the Tamale Campus, saw the team moving in three buses.
Before their departure, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Seidu Al-hassan met and addressed them.
He charged the athletes to be good ambassadors of the University and focus on winning medals for the UDS.
“What we want you people to do is to focus on winning all the medals that you will be competing for. I charge you to be good ambassadors of the University by being of good character and behavior throughout the games,” Prof. Al-hassan said.
Our news team gathered that the UDS contingent comprises 165 students made up of football players (men and women), handball players, (men and women), volley ball players, (men and women) athletics (men and women), basketball (men), Badminton (men and women), Table Tennis,(men and women) and Beach Volleyball (men).
They will be supported by 10 honorary coaches, and four substantive coaches, a physiotherapist, a representative from the SRC, an office clerk and the UDS media.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences (FOAFCS), located at the Nyankpala Campus, is the premier faculty of the University for Development Studies (UDS), having begun in 1993 as the Faculty of Agriculture.
