Abubakar Tahiru, a distinguish graduate of the University for Development Studies (UDS) has become a world record holder for embracing a total of 1,123 trees in one hour.  This record-breaking attempt occurred on March 25, 2024 in Auburn, Alabama, USA at the Tuskegee National Forest’s Pleasant Hills.

Currently studying at the Auburn University in the United States, Tahiru's record-breaking attempt wasn't just about achieving fame, it was a powerful message to the world about environmental sustainability. In his interview with 3News, Mr. Tahiru was clear about his intention. "While I wouldn't mind the recognition, my true goal was to bring global attention to the critical need for sustainable environmental practices. Climate change is a real threat, and I wanted to remind everyone of the devastating effects it has on our planet", Tahiru said.

Mr. Abubakar Tahiru aspires to leave a lasting impact that goes beyond the record books. "I hope to be remembered not just as a record-holder, but as someone who used this platform to advocate for sustainability, inspire young people, and showcase my unwavering commitment to protecting nature," he shared.
