The University for Development Studies (UDS) has announced the promotion of sixteen (16) distinguished members of staff to various professorial and equivalent administrative/professional ranks.

This milestone follows the approval by the University Governing Council at its 106th Meeting, based on recommendations from the Appointments and Promotions Committee.

Among those honoured are five eminent scholars who have been appointed on promotion to the rank of Professor, each representing a unique field of expertise and scholarly contribution:

1. Prof. Hamdiyah Alhassan – appointed on promotion as Professor of Development Economics
2. Prof. Samuel Jerry Cobbina – appointed on promotion as Professor of Environmental Science
3. Prof. Abdulai Abubakari – appointed on promotion as Professor of Development Sociology
4. Prof. Adadow Yidana – appointed on promotion as Professor of Public Health (Behavioural Sciences)
5. Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin – appointed on promotion as Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health

In addition, eleven other academic staff members have been appointed on promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, a recognition of their significant contributions to teaching, research, and service:

1. Dr. Salifu Katara – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Statistics
2. Dr. Adamu Issaka – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery
3. Dr. Emmanuel Delwin Abarika – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Aquaculture
4. Dr. Seth Mensah Abobi – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Fisheries and Aquatic Science
5. Dr. Napoleon Bellua Sam – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
6. Dr. Abdul-Nashirudeen Mumuni – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Medical Physics
7. Dr. Joseph Yaw Dwamen Quansah – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Educational Planning and Management
8. Dr. Issaka Cecilia Alimatu – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Special and Inclusive Education
9. Dr. Mustapha Alhassan – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Public Health Psychology
10. Dr. Vida Nyagre Yakong – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Medical Anthropology and Nursing
11. Dr. Amadu Abudu Musah – appointed on promotion as Associate Professor of Curriculum Leadership
