Ms. Abigail Appiah is an Assistant Lecturer in the department of Family and Consumer Sciences, faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences. She has 12 years’ experience in teaching Clothing and Textiles, Management in Living, assessment and classroom management. She has been able to create in students a sense of self-acceptance as well as generating among them a peaceful atmosphere of academic competition, raising their interests in studies to a satisfactory level. Her career objective is to have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and visionary team in achieving the organization’s vision and to increase students interest in Clothing and Textiles. She has undertaken research in clothing management especially clothes repair in Agona Kwanyako in the Central Region. She has also researched on university students’ understanding and use of the information on care labels on clothes. Her research interest is to improve the clothing uniform of some high risk occupations and developing course contents/ curriculum that will be more relevant to students in order to make the course more practical to students. She is also interested in researching on specialized clothing.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences (FOAFCS), located at the Nyankpala Campus, is the premier faculty of the University for Development Studies (UDS), having begun in 1993 as the Faculty of Agriculture.
