Background

Ms. Ramatu Halidu is a lecturer in the Department of Family and Consumer sciences. She has served as a department counsellor, Quality Assurance officer in the Department, Department rep. on Faculty Board. Miss Halidu has 34 years of professional teaching experience with 16 years’ experience in tertiary institutions. Miss Halidu has taught at both graduate and under graduate levels at the University for Development studies, University of Cape Coast and University of Education-Winneba. Miss Halidu has provided instructions in Personal and Family Resource Management, Principles and Administration of Child Care Programmes, Consumer Education, Family Meal Management, Sociology of the Family, Confectionery Sciences among others. Her overwhelming task of learning the extensive collection of print and electronic resources has aided her. Miss Halidu’s diligence, bright mind, inquisitive nature and unwavering commitment to helping others enabled her to achieve her success. Miss Halidu is truly unique in her ability to empathize, establish rapport and reach a very broad range of students from diverse backgrounds. Ramatu is a good listener who also can convey information clearly and effectively to individuals and groups. Her common sense, research and detective skills enabled her to find information for students which are not easily locatable. Research interests are: Family Resource Management, Child and Family Studies.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Sciences (FOAFCS), located at the Nyankpala Campus, is the premier faculty of the University for Development Studies (UDS), having begun in 1993 as the Faculty of Agriculture.
